In the beginning, there was nothing. The world was a wasteland, a barren rock that held no life. Then, the creators of the Universe, the three golden goddesses, descended upon the wasteland. Din, Nayru, and Farore transformed the wasteland into a world of life. They populated the planet with countless plants and animals. They also created life in their own image, intelligent beings that would uphold the order that they created.
